It seems to me that the same people who are passionate about the right to bear arms on the basis that government can become tyrannical are also the people who are blindly defensive about U.S. foreign policy. Moreover, these same people- who do not trust government to do almost anything else- become completely blindly passive and trusting with regard to the President and the Pentagon's military assessments and decisions.

I don't get it. Is it just because the government in question is Republican? Is there some disconnect or have I missed a piece in the puzzle.
