I hear ya brother. But once we understand a little about terminal ballistics, we see that a good number of hand guns will actually penetrate further in flesh than some high pressure rifles. For example.

One of the most commonly purchased pistol calibers (from talking to various dealers) is the 9mm. Let us look at its terminal ballistics for a moment.

Now let us look at a .45 ACP.

Now lets look at 5.56 M993 Ball (aka standard FMJ).

Other rounds like the 7.62x39 will not fragment as easily. But you can buy special purpose ammo that does.

Now, as that round is lighter, and will more than likely fragment in the body. There is a much lower chance of it exiting the body and going through a wall and killing someone in the next room. And if you do miss, because it yaws so easily, it is less likely to penetrate multiple walls.

These are all standard FMJ, and yes using JHP will reduce the depth of penetration. But also remember that expansion does not always occur.

I am not saying that someone should use one of those idiotic rifles chambered in .50 beowulf. But it is a right that needs to be upheld.

And I am sure some antigun nut is going to try to use the above information as an argument against these weapons. But fine, I have answers for them too.

I agree, and I always preach training training training. But it is a right, and we can not force people to take a test for a right.

I'm not the best shot in the world, but I'm good enough to hit what I'm aiming at. And I have excellent gun safety awareness (I make sure they're cleaned properly, and know whether they're loaded or not, and keep them in a safe place), lots of people don't.
I agree, but that number is probably lower than you think.

Lastly remember that there is no such thing as an unloaded weapon.

1. Sport of choice for Marines: bowling.

3. Sport of choice for Soldiers: baseball.
4. Sport of choice for Coast Guardsmen: tennis.
5. Sport of choice for Airmen: golf.
Notice how the farther down the list you go, the smaller their balls get.
