I think it really comes down to what the religious adherent wants to do. If they want to kill, they will kill in the name of their religion. If they want to spread peace, they will spread peace in the name of their religion. It's part of human nature. Saying something like Islam should be destroyed only raises the question of why Christianity shouldn't be destroyed, or why all religion shouldn't be destroyed.
