.50 BMG is perfectly legal in Canada. Apparently the US government thinks there is something amazing about the .50, as the ATF refuses to issue export permits for .50 supplies. You are causing a severe shortage of .50 ammo, rifles, and reloading supplies in Canada. You are helping to cripple .50 sport shooting in my country.

Its still questionable whether they could or not. There has never been a Supreme Court of Canada case relating to gun rights before. There is already someone who is getting ready to challenge the Firearms Act to the Supreme Court, arguing that the Firearms Act (which includes all the registration, licensing, storage laws, etc...) violates several rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It should determine the extent to which the government can impose gun control.
