We already have this. Ever heard of the "Rust Belt?" That's what our formerly healthy industrial NE is currently referred to after NAFTA.

Conservatives will tell you its not their job to provide specific careers for people's chosen professions. They say it's up to the individual to accept responsibility to make himself or herself "employable." This is out-dated folly.
A society controlled by central directive would not be suffering this kind of indignity. Industry controlled by government would prevent jobloss from workplace obsolesence by pre-determining professions and providing training for those chosen for each. In the meantime, our government should restrict businesses from moving abroad or outsourcing labor from more favorable labor forces elsewhere.
Proper leadership will be provided by Hillary or Obama, regardless of the comments taken out of context painting Barak as insensitive to blue-collar mentality.
