perhaps i was a bit vague; what matters most to me is that the woman can take care of herself, support herself, that shes independent. i couldnt see myself with a woman that didnt have her stuff together in that respect. i guess its more of a character thing than anything else.

Well someone can be independent working a minimum wage job while they're single.

@JavaBlack I don't think it has to do with wanting to be subservient. I think it's just a matter of respect and who they're attracted to.

Though between the lines of your post maybe you have something. Perhaps they think they would only be attracted to men who are equally or more successful, but maybe when it comes right down to it and they're face to face with a guy that wouldn't hold anymore. Maybe I'll suggest to my friends they not limit themselves and then see after knowing the guy if it still matters.

what if you hook up intending to eventually marry. does that make a difference?

My boy earns less than I do, but it doesn't matter because he's the most fulfilling, loving, kind, wonderful, honest, intelligent, funny and admirable person I know. What I have learned from him and what he has taught me about being a person of integrity and honour, discipline and kindness are priceless.

He is well-read, well-educated, informed, insightful, creative and passionate. All of these things matter far, far more than how much money he earns.

Chicks that look for high EP in a partner before anything else deserve the misery they're likely to get, IMO.
