David Icke - do me a favour, pal
Yep, the Queen of England is a reptile. Look mate, I agree with the general thrust of your argument but the solution ain't to be found in a very clever Englishman, ex footballer and tv presenter David Icke, who has made a considerable buck out of naive conspiracy theorists like you. These are the same kind of impressionable people who believe that the towers on 9-11 were brought down as a result of controlled explosives and that a series of undercover secret societies are controlling the world etc etc. Now, what Mr Icke does is he uses a combination of new age philiosophy, pyseudo- Marxism and existential Buddhism in order to attempt to manipulate the naive and vulnerable into effectively doing NOTHING about the problems we face in our world.
Because, you see by implying that a group of shadowy individuals (the SYMPTOMS of the problem) acting on behalf of the so called new world order, are the real problem, has the effect of underplaying the very real and objective socio-economic CAUSES. In other words, our knowledge and understanding of who our enemy is in terms of identifying particular individuals who may or may not be members of say the illuminati, in no way effects the trajectory of our response. By knowing who these particular individuals are in other words, has no baring on identifying the underlying socio-economic and political causes that give rise to these individuals acting the way they act.
More importantly, by purely identifying and pointing out to others the nature of their misdeeds all we end up doing is encouraging political passivity and inaction. Its not them per se who are the root of the problem, but rather the socio-economic and political context in which they operate. Therefore we are better to concentrate our minds and energies on transforming the system itself rather than wasting our time pin-pointing individuals. Icke may well and truelly mean well, but all he ends up doing by spouting his nonsense is to throw sand in all the faces of political activists like me.
