The problem is the fact that Amercia is so vocal in it's belief of being 'most popular'. I imagine that the US is only the most popular to the US itself, and not other countries, which surely says something that should be taken on board, but isn't.
I am not sure about Bush making the US 'more hated' but many people are unhappy with him, although that isn't exactly your fault, having a President who has made so many unpopular decisions. Then again, you people did vote him in...
