You may want to attempt to read the article before pontificating on the child's quality of life. She has a normal, fully developed brain, and there was no mention of mental or developmental abnormalities besides the difficulty she suffers from her deformity.
This condition is not co-morbid with retardation or lack of brain development. From the National Craniofacial Association (emphasis mine)
