Thank the founders for Federalism, the greatest system on earth. The federal government is restricted, people get to make laws that suite them, and are not subject to the laws of everybody else. Freedom reigns. If people in California wanted to tell me how to live my life than I would recommend using the government's power to prevent the development of different systems of government (in this case, a socialist republic) in the country to take them down. The main reason why we broke with Britain was because we thought their laws were unjust, because we had different local interests. Therefore we should love a system that allows people to let their voice be heard. Anyone who suggests otherwise probably lives in California or New York and favors a Rousseauian totalitarian government system where everybody is subject to the general will and has no rights.
