But the Republicans wanted to play the "guilt by association" card so they kept shoving the topic into the public debate. Apparently they'd forgotten about the old adage of rock throwing when you live in a glass house.

Now their Republican candidate has his problems over a pastor's remarks. John McCain, knowing full well the message of hate and intolerance from John Hagee sought out, and welcomed his support and endorsement. Hagee's radical comments have been well documented over the years in televised sermons, books and interviews, so McCain's campaign knew full well his views and stated positions. The New York Times has recently published an article detailing many of his hate-spewing messages.

There is another individual that John McCain has sought out and welcomed into his inner circle that is equally problematic. Rev. Rod Parsley, the man John McCain calls his "spiritual advisor", also has a long record of outrageous, divisive remarks delivered as "sermons". He claims America was actually founded so that we can eradicate Islam from the planet. He believes America should actually deal with Islam as if it's some despicable disease that needs to be vanquished from the world. To do so, he advocates virtually a permanent state of war, in which the United States should go around the planet killing followers of Islam. This "Christian", this pastor, has actually said in a sermon... "We get off on war!"

So John McCain has chosen, that's CHOSEN, made a calculated, conscientious decision to bring these merchants of intolerance into his inner circle. What concessions he's made to secure their endorsements and support is not known. His "spiritual advisor" even has wet dreams, "getting off on war". Presumably, Rev. Parson's thirst for war and "getting off" on it doesn't involve his direct participation. Between these two, self-claimed "Christians", they would see an America that attacks Catholics and Islam, using actual warfare with deaths, destruction and devastation so they can "get off". These are individuals intentionally sought out and selected by John McCain to part of his campaign, and should he win the election, his administration as well.

Since Republicans want to use "guilt by association" as a criteria for America to use in deciding our next president it's a two-way street. There is the issue of the video tape of Obama's former pastor, whose remarks were denounced by Obama, and who has now separated himself from the pastor. Then there are the two pastors sought out and embraced by John McCain, that he remains aligned with, and has even elevated one to the status of "spiritual advisor". If Republicans are correct in assuming Americans want more war, actually on a global front, then they won't have a problem with hate-spewing messages from this pair. If they're wrong, then they need Americans to not be aware of the true, core, publically stated positions of McCain's advisers.

Here's a link to a short video featuring John McCain and his "spiritual advisor", Rod Parsley. If this is repugnant to you, if you don't think this is the course our nation should take, if you're not an advocate of a perpetual state of global war for our nation, then don't simply view this video and disagree... share it with someone else. Our country is at a crossroads and we have to decide what kind of people we truly are. Knowing the facts, the real facts, is an essential part of making that decision.
