Agreed. Not all Muslims are bad people. But that in no way mitigates the fact that Islam, as it is practiced in certain areas of the Middle East, is a violent and repressive political and religious ideology. This is what Eleanor is trying to say, even though she does so in a very offensive way. The fundemental tenets of Islam place it in a position of bold confrontation with the democratic and multicultural ideals we have learned from youth. I realize that the Muslim living next door to me may be a nice fellow, but that doesn't change what Islam is. It is an ideology hell-bent on imposing its narrow view of the world on the rest of humanity.
