sure.
if the US is out in front of everyone,
then it makes everyone elses progression that much easier.
its kinda like ...
... having an older brother as a senior,
when you're a freshman.
he's seen it all,
he's done it all,
and if some kid takes your lunch money,
he can put the smack down for you.
it's actually quite charitable of us to voluntarily lead the way,
and not bigotous at all.
