I'm glad I'm not a politician. My father is a raving conservative! My mother is a socially conservative Democrat. My wife hates politics and has several beliefs I do not agree with. The guy who married my wife and I was a judge, but he was very Christian... and we had to request a secular version of the ceremony he went by (same thing but without the word "God" mentioned). I like the guy too. Does that mean I'm Christian now?
But if I were running for president, suddenly I'd be some kind of closet conservative Christian or Christopher Hitchens fan or something sinister.... You couldn't actually think that I'm a liberal like I claim, and one who doesn't really care about religion!
And I don't think I can prove that I'm not a Trojan Horse!

I agree that politicians are unduly scrutnized, but that only serves to heighten my suspicion of those who choose to subject themselves and their families to the torture! What is in it for them that makes that worth it?
