Why because mythbusters is never wrong I am a scientist I view things like this with enough knowledge to defend my view.

From what I hear mythbusters only pressurized the plane and didn't depressurize the surrounding leading to skewed results. A gun might not cause irreparable damage but it could lead to a decrease in strucural integrity and it also would create somewhat of a vacuum as air moves from high to low pressure.
