No, religion is not the source of morality. A simple concept within morality such as the Golden Rule exists in all societies across the world. No matter whether the society believes in one god, many gods, spirits or no gods at all.

My morals and ethics certainly don't stem from religion and would be the same if religion disappeared tomorrow.

The very idea is humorous. If I was a christian, should I get my morals from "an eye for an eye" or from "turn the other cheek"?
