So the government would control everything? What if you really needed a T.V but they said you don't?
How would the government control everything? Is that what I said? NO.
What I said is that in socialism, which is a transition period, the 'state' would be very limited to ensuring criminal activity didn't happen and that a barter economy didn't start up etc. The government would not 'force' anyone to give up their products, the person simply wouldn't be allowed to have access to anyone elses products if they DIDN'T MAKE HIS OWN AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY, that's where the individual incentive lies in socialism.

It's a mandate and a mutual agreement, I agree to provide the products of my labor (those which are an excess over what I want of them) to the community, and in return the community makes it's products available to me.

Whats going to stop people who (and there always will be) who think they deserve more than everybody else? perhaps alot more? or work harder than those around them and don't think it's right to give away everything they made so they can get less mixed goods in return?
This is where your argument goes awry, there is massive resources in production in modern industrial society, poverty comes from capitalist imposition over people's labor. Equality comes from individualism, and collectivism comes from individualism, this is because the base-point of the community in socialism is every individual providing their products because if they do they get access to everyone else's products.
