I lived in Boston under Romney and let me tell you. If he was president we would probably have been invaded due to the extreme showing of incompetence. Most of the people voting in the primaries didn't know much about how incompetent he was, but the higher-ups in the Republican party did and they
did not want him to represent them. He was also a Mormon which put off all the social conservatives, which was the real reason he lost.
A lot of people here have been decrying how unfair the tax burden is between the rich and poor, so I'll explain why it is better for everybody. Take Warren Buffet for example. He spends a smaller
percentage of his massive wealth on his living expenses like food, his house, etc, even if he does spend a lot more on those things than most other people. Most of his money is reinvested and it serves to help build capital, the means of production, that creates not only jobs for Americans, but also factories and such that produce goods for consumers, that produces wealth, most of which goes to the American people, and some of which goes to Buffet for his good investment. Poorer people spend less of their money on investment and such (even though they should still invest, it's one of the best ways to get out of poverty, a little goes a long way) and so they pay taxes more on what they spend for living expenses, just because of the way we distribute taxes. In the long run, it's better for everybody because it produces more wealth for everybody, including the poor.
