McCain was qouted as saying: "Health care needs no fixing people need to eat right and excercise to cut down on health problems". I guess he forgot that cancer, aids, diabeti's, tuberculosous, autism, down sydrome, and the many other formidial diseaes out there can't be fixed with eating and excercise. What an absolutely stupid thing to say from a man you want to vote in office!

Both cancer and diabetes are postponed/prevented through healthy eating and exercise. Someone may be predisposed to cancer, however, many preventive measures can be taken to postpone it, and over 90% of people who develop diabetes were not genetically destined to get it, they got it because of poor eating habits. There are several studies that show high GI foods and obesity cause insulin insensitivity, but I guessed you missed that memo.
Down syndrome and other diseases are actually quite low if giving birth before the age of 30, but the chances increase drastically afterwards as the mother ages.
I would suggest getting a clue before posting nonsense like this in favor of nationalized health care. The chance of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other diseases are rather heavily determined by the quality of our diet and frequency of exercise, and not just genetics. I sprint, lift weights, and eat quality foods to maintain a good body, and quite frankly I do not care if someone is afflicted with some disease prematurely because of their own stupidity. Apparently the answer is to take the most expensive route like pharmaceuticals, frequent doctor visits, and procedures as long as someone else is flipping the bill.
