I usually content myself by waiting for the inevitable to occur when it comes to people like LA. Control over your children is an illusion, to some degree. Particularly when they become adults.

I know my parents were in for a nasty surprise when I married a person of color, in spite of their repeatedly racist commentary during my growing-up years. I'm still not sure if I did it because I loved him, or as a big f-u to them.
