First off, Florida is not in a state of emergency. The are two subdivisions in Daytona under voluntary evacuation and it's somewhat worse in Brevard County but nothing remotely close to the fires of 1998. There have always been tropical cyclones in southeast Asia and elsewhere. There have always been tornadoes in the Midwest and elsewhere. Likewise with earthquakes. The whole reason this planet is habitable is the dynamic weather and other processes that occasionally bite us real hard. To try to read anything metaphysical into events like this seems very superstitious to me.
