Um...no. If that were true, there would have been no civil war in the US. Obviously, a lot of Americans from that time disagreed with you that slavery was obsolete.
The South felt as you do...that slavery was justifiable for economic reasons. The north felt as I do, that slavery was morally wrong regardless of it's economic benefit.
