Those numbers are in dispute, and they only reflect the short-term deficit common to all new immigrants -- not the long-term benefit they and their descendants will bring.
Plus, consider that $10 billion represents roughly 30 seconds of U.S. economic output.
The problem can be very large on a local level, but on a national scale it's small.
