I think it's just that he has quite the active imagination when it comes to male homosexuality which is a subject that occupies a great deal of his waking time, and so he enjoys every opportunity to explore the subject when it presents itself.
Heck, he hardly needs an opportunity, really, as there are few subjects that can't be turned into fertile ground for his explorations into all things homosexual.
