Arrogant and insulting. Canadians nowadays are too quick to jump on the anti-American bandwagon, but it's crap like this that justifies those feelings. I'm glad you're trying to call them on this superiority complex, but you're trying to bait your Canadian critics into an anti-American rant.

Canada's size restricts their possible influence greatly and we will acknowledge that our role, by comparison is insignificant compared to the United States.

However to argue that it is insignificant as whole is ignorant. World War One, Canadians contributed largely to the Entente victory. There is no doubt that American forces were THE determining factor, but the survival of the Western Front relied on Canadian contributions to victories at Ypres and Vimy Ridge.

In World War Two, again, while American forces were the decisive factor Canadian pilots and shipping were essential in the Battle of Britain. They also advanced the furthest of any of the three nations on D-Day.

Canada as a nation contributed to the victory in the Cold War (such as mutual defense agreements), has offered significant technological advances (from Insulin to the Canadarm) and has been essential for peacekeeping missions (from Suez to Kosovo to Afghanistan today).

Canadians are often too quick to criticize the United States and are arrogant in their belief in moral superiority or that we can survive without the United States. But to brush off any contributions that Canada has made is intolerant and foolish. If you want to get people's respect (including the Canadians who senselessly criticize the United States), you'll have to start respecting them too.
