How would drilling for more oil prevent the problem? It would only speed up the usage (plus it wouldn't help much without also building more refineries).
And I'm for building some nuclear... but on the other hand, depending on how close they are to something else... why build something that expensive that you're going to be replacing sometime in the near future?

And the problem is that we've just been WAITING for alternatives. We can't wait. We have to put more effort into working on it.
