My name is Don - also known as SpotsCat. I too am over here from "the other" forum that some of us newbies belonged to. Some people that I've enjoyed discussing politics with over the past couple of years have come over here, and since I consider them my friends, I too have joined!
I'm an over-the-road truck driver who lives in the Jackson, Mississippi area - and as I write this I am at a truckstop in East St. Louis, Illinois waiting to deliver a load in St. Louis tomorrow, and then pickup a load that takes me home Tuesday for my daughter's wedding this Saturday.
My politics are liberal in some areas, conservative in others. Off the top of my head, I believe in a woman's right to choose, physician-assisted suicide, and the death penalty. I believe that we should be careful stewards of this planet and do our best to support and sustain the other lifeforms that are here with us, but I also believe it's past time to go drill for oil in ANWR. I believe in "gay marriage", legalized prostitution, and the legalization of marijuana. It's your body and whatever you do to it - or with the consent of another adult - is accceptable.
In the 2008 election, I'm still reading and learning about the two candidates - I've yet to decide who I'll vote for. I like Obama's charisma and the promise of change that he talks about, but I also believe that if anyone has paid the dues necessary to become POTUS, it's John McCain. We shall see...
I look forward to meeting the membership here as time progresses, and resuming some political discussions with some old friends!
