Nothing wrong with being patriotic towards a country. Patriotism means you praise your country for what it does right and criticize her for when she does wrong. It means you love what your country stands for, their heritage, their diversity and so forth. You are proud to call yourself an American (or whatever the case may be).

A nationalist (nationalism) or is a blind patriot more or less. One that wears the color of a patriot, but contradicts them with a blind outlook on his country. His country is always right. Never does wrong. And so forth.
