Would you serve if randomly elected to Congress?
Congress is filled with career politicians and political families. This "monopoly" prevents any real change from occuring.
So, to "change" this, I propose a national "Congressional Draft," whereby - at random - approximately 525 average citizens are called up to serve from 4 to 6 years, 100 as Senators, the remainder as Representatives.
You would be required to have a high school education and no "felony" criminal record. You would not have to be a lawyer; legislation - as it stands now - is often too complex, and needs to be simplified for efficiency.
I would love to hear your opinion and your ideas!
