The OP seems clear on the legalities.

Philisophically it is up to the individual. If you really support a war, sign your arse up for it. If not, don't go. But to force you opinion onto someone else to the extent that they are fighting your fight for you, goes beyond what I would consider the right thing allow in our society.

We shouldn't be in any wars in the first place, and any "police action" that requires that much man-power is an illegal war in my eyes.
