Which party should I register as?
Sense I was old enough to vote I've been NPA. (No party affliation) However, I think I'd be able to accomplish more being a part of a party, able to elect peeps in the primaries and get more notice for my opinion with the assistance of fellow party members. (Even if they don't agree)
I was thinking about four parties. And I'll explain why in the poll options. Here are my positions, and you tell me which party you think I should join..
The War in Iraq:
I'm against war as a whole. I like the military, but mostly cause I get a boner for all those weapons and army gear. I'd prefer private militias doing what our government does, only without the burden of using all of our tax dollars. If you want to liberate Iraq, that's fine. But do it on private funding..
Foreign Aid:
I don't believe in it. Why are we paying taxes to feed Africans abroad when we have our own economic crisis right here at home? There are reputable charities that provide for the needy Africans or whatever. Go donate to that crap Sally Struthers gives infomercials about. But don't expect all Americans to be responsible..
Immigration:
Though I highly respect the minute-men as their private militia is exactly what I'm looking for. I believe our borders should be completely open. Citizenship is slavery. There should be nothing stop us from coming or leaving the country.
Taxation:
Obviously a big issue of mine. I believe taxation is more of a punishment then a duty. As such, all taxes short of maybe sales tax should be abolished. Have laws to determine the sales tax of certain items. Maybe larger sales taxes on things like porn and tobacco to appease the liberal soccer moms.. Otherwise, taxation should serve as a criminal punishment instead of prison time. Which is only hurting the law abiding citizen with taxes..
Capital Punishment:
I supported the supreme court's recent decision to strictly define what is suitable to invoke the death penalty. I don't trust the government, and there should be strict definitions of intolerable crimes as opposed to "case-by-case basis"..
Torture:
Sense I don't support the Iraq war, I'm certainly not going to support detaining prisoners or water-boarding. Our military has no business capturing the enemy to interrogate them. War is a form of self-defense, clearly finding people to imprison and abuse is not self-defense.
Drugs:
The war on drugs is ridicules, I insist that all drugs be decriminalized. (Not legalized, decriminalized, that way you can grow them yourself rather then have some manufactured, uber regulated un-free market version)
Unrestricted alcohol/smoking laws:
A private business is more then within their rights to ban smoking in doors, but it is wrong to make it compulsory, more importantly.. people should be able to freely grow and produce this stuff. Bath-tub liquor should be everybody's right to make, as well as home grown tobacco, no license or any of that crap required.
Gay Marriage:
I support people's free right to have sex with whoever they want, whenever they want, for whatever reason they want. But I don't support needing government to validate my sexual experiences. Marriage is a religious institution, and nobody has any business telling religions how to define marriage, nor does the state have any business defining marriage for them. Most of the hoopla about gay marriage involves the tax breaks and such. So.. stop validating all marriages.. Because to me people have about as much right to be gay as they do to be a pedophile or to be a necrophiliac. I have no problem with it. But it's not fair to the pedophiles and necrophiliacs..
Healthcare/Social Security/Etc:
Obviously I'm against all forms of public welfare programs. I may make an exception for children. I've voted before to provide healthcare for children under the age of eighteen, but I was under the pretense it didn't apply to people above. I have a soft-spot for kids, but I don't give a crap about the rest of you.. And I shouldn't have to pay taxes to cover you no matter how sick or poor you are. If you can't provide for yourself that's just too bad.
Second Amendment:
I wasn't always such a strong second amendment advocate, but a little education does people some good. Weapons are not dangerous, idiots with weapons are dangerous. It's best you get a weapon, to protect yourself from future idiots. I support completely free, lax, weapon laws. I don't go anywhere without my mutated anthrax... for duck-hunting...
Education:
I support a large overhaul of the education system. Privatizing it. Maybe if teachers actually start to fear losing their jobs on the free-market, they'll stop molesting the kids and start actually teaching them something. I have considered the notion of voucher programs and subsidies for homeschooling for the sake of children and their access to an education. But that's as far as I'll go on the notion of public financing..
Energy:
We need to deeply consider other energy resources besides oil. Oil won't last forever, we need a plan that will make us independent of the middle-east's monopoly and provide fuel for the citizens. Even if we got to start charging huge amounts for meat because developing cattle and many meat based foots comes at the expense of corn and wheat. (Which could make excellent sources of fuel) I do support drilling for oil in America. And I support building nuclear refineries..
Global Warming:
I believe the evidence is fuzzy at best. Mostly just fear-mongering and excaggerations of natural climate change. Besides, I don't give a crap about the polar bears..
Abortion:
I'm against it in all circumstances. This is perhaps my biggest issue. This sole issue decides who I vote for in elections.. It is a barbaric, cruel, unforgivable practice. And it should be abolished because children (and yes, a fetus is a child) has a natural right to life. I do not even advocate "life endangerment" scenarios, which I think is a load of bullcrap devised to weaken the prolife basis of argument. And even if such cases were true, such a low margin of women would need them that it'd be counter-intuitive to legislate. Because for every one woman who's life was indanger, there'd be two trying to get one just cause they didn't want to be pregnant anymore. If doctors can lie about prescriptions, they can lie about abortions..
So what party do you think I should join?
