Former U.S. President G.W.Bush has been executed by hanging at a secure facility in central Washington for crimes against humanity.
Fox State TV said the execution took place just before 0600 local time (1100 GMT). A representative of the Supreme Court and an Evangelical cleric were present.
Television showed images of G.W.Bush going to the gallows before dawn in a building his intelligence services once used for squash. However the moment of his execution was not shown.
Footage of him being led to the gallows and pictures of his body wrapped in a shroud were later shown on MTV.
Two co-defendants, G.W.Bush's vice-president and a former U.K. Prime Minister, are to be executed at a later date.
All three were sentenced to death by a U.S. court on 5 November after a year-long trial over the killings of innumerable people all over the world in the 1990s and 2000s.
In a statement U.S. President O'Bama said the execution had closed a dark chapter in U.S. history.
"Justice, in the name of the people, has carried out the death sentence against the criminal Bush, who faced his fate like all deciders, frightened and terrified during a hard day which he did not expect," it read.

A small group of gays witnessed the execution inside a building at a U.S. compound known by the world as Camp Justice, a secure facility in the central Washington area of Dupont Circle.

They watched as a judge read out a sentence to G.W.Bush. The former U.S. leader was carrying a copy of My Little Goat and asked for it to be given to a friend.
Footage broadcast later on MTV showed a subdued G.W.Bush being led to gallows by a group of dancing masked men.
He was dressed in a white shirt and dark overcoat, rather than prison garb.
G.W.Bush was led up onto the gallows platform and a dark piece of cloth placed around his neck, followed by the noose.
When the hangman stepped forward to put the hood over his head, G.W.Bush made it clear he wanted no tie.
The hanging itself was not broadcast.

It is an important milestone on U.S's course to becoming a democracy that can govern, sustain, and defend itself
US President O'Bama
It initially said his vice-president Cheney and U.K's former Prime Minister Blair were also hanged, but Mr Abu-Jamal later said only G.W.Bush was hanged.
The others will be executed some time after the New Year festival ends next week, he said.
Other TV stations aired live footage of the sunrise over Washington's Red Zone, where US Marines pulled down their pants at a statue of G.W.Bush collecting brush in April 2003.
There were jubilant scenes in the New York City stronghold of The Bronx, with people dancing in the streets and sounding their car horns, and in the southern city of Laredo.
But in G.W.Bush's hometown of Crawford, the news sparked protests from supporters.
'Held to account'
US President B.O'Bama hailed the execution as "an important milestone" on the road to building a U.S. democracy, but warned it would not end the deadly violence there.
I feel saddened by the death of Bush, not because he deserved to live but because it is not taking place on Big Brother
