Default Shouldn't Exxon Mobil bail out the Big 3?

I mean lets face it; No one has profited more from the mass marketing of gas guzzlers. The way I see it, the auto makers did big oil a favor when they stopped researching alternative fuel vehicles in the mid 90's and started building bigger and fancier SUV's and Pickups. You realize that in 1996 GM introduced a production electric vehicle, the EV1. Not only that, but is our gas saving technology getting worse? In 1988, my parents bought a Pontiac Bonneville, it got 30 miles per gallon. In 2005 the same car got 20 mpg. A 1990 model ford f-150 got 15 miles per gallon. A 2008 model gets 14 mpg. Seriously, they are losing technology?
All I"m saying is that Exxon Mobil should maybe adhere to a you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours kind of thing. After all look at the profit difference.

1995:
Exxon - $5.1 billion
General Motors - $4.9 billion
Ford Motors - $5.3 billion

2007:
Exxon (mobil)- $40.6 billion
General Motors - Loss of $38 billion
Ford Motors - Loss of $3 billion

Come on EXXON MOBIL! They scratched your back....puff, puff, GIVE!!

Of course what will actually occur is that the oil companies will not bail out the Big 3. We, the tax payers, will. And the Oil companies, after being aided by the big 3 (and us) will keep their 10 years of record profits.

How about nobody bails them out and they can restructure under chapter 11 protection?

About $25 billion (x infinity by the time this is done) that's not wasted by our government for once.

The only way to get the car companies to stop sucking off government's tit is to let them file a Chapter 11 bankrupcy, and let them restructure their companies. Otherwise they will continue to fail and the spinless politicians will keep feeding them bailouts.

It will get us to a point where you have smaller companies who care about the FUTURE of our ecomony and will make sound business decisions based on the reality of that economy.

What will be left is people who actually care and will be more concerned about the decisions they make and what kinds of cars they push on America.

They will have learned the repurcussions of bad business decisions..and it's about time.
