Gravity is not a theory. Tell me something, when you let go of an apple, does it float away or does it drop to the ground?
Now, it would be different if someone holding an apple told you to turn around and when you turned back, saw it on the ground, because then you would not be able to determine with certainty what happened when you weren't looking, you could only speculate.
