We're number one only because of the people that push this country forward. The inventors, the business leaders, and those in the military that fight for our freedom. The only thing that holds us back from being as good as we might be are the people that can't provide for themselves and ask for hand-outs. Some cannot provide for themselves because of severe mental or physical handicap, but most quite simply have themselves to thank for their station in life, and no one in community has ANY responsibility to those people. As much as you might like to jade yourself, we are not in this together. Man is an island. We may connect with each other through "community" but that is temporary. We're born alone into our own thoughts, and we die alone into whatever awaits us individually, if anything at all. No one cares about you the way you SHOULD care about yourself. The second you stop asking others to help prop you up you will have made a big leap. This is reality.
