The new tactic being utilized by the Kerry campaign? To whine that for every dollar spent in Iraq, a dollar is being taken away from social programs in the U.S.

I've been saying this all along that the money for Iraq is being wasted, and could be spent on much more important things to better
OUR nation. I for one would like to have seen this money being spent to find the real terrorists responsible for the events of 9/11. Also I would like to have seen this money spent on defense to protect our borders and increase security. Social programs obviously would fall somewhere in the midst of all that.

Does anyone besides myself find this a disgusting argument? How greedy and self-serving can we possibly be? The poorest American is incredibly wealthy in comparison to the 3rd world, but apparently, we should be spending more on welfare; and social programs.

This argument is not disgusting. What is disgusting is that Bush is wasting all that money and manpower to serve his own personal agendas in Iraq..."He tried to kill my daddy".
Our nation and
our citizens should be of
the highest level of priorities. If Iraq needed a regime change, they would have gotten one on their own...the old fasioned way like we did. Revolutions are the only way to go, otherwise the citizens think anyone so-called "helping", is really trying to occupy their country. FYI, when this war dwindles down, they will still remain poor, especially when we move away from using Oil. They will be forgotten. They are a lost cause.
