I dont see anyone but a few politicians who want it. They are seeing numerous demonstrations against it, politicians who voted for are inundated with messages voicing their opposition etc. The politicians who voted against were sent a ton of flowers at their office with thank you notes.
I would suggest they put this law to public referendum and see what the outcome is, that would tell if the public really wants it or not.
I dont think it is a neccesity either and I dont even think the reason for it is what they state..terrorism. I think its just a great excuse to place another tool of control upon a population.
The problem is this, its govts who should be more transparent and the people who should have better access to see everything they do and say (not personal lives just their govt work) and people should have their privacy protected and yet what we see is the opposite. Govts becoming more secretive while the publics privacy is continually more invaded. Thats the mechanism of a more fascist sort of society....not a free and democratic one.
