It's certainly true that our corrupt fed gov, saleable to the highest bidder lobbyists, was bought off by the employers of illegals into allowing the flood of illegal Mexican scabs into the US. The corrupt fed gov has started doing some for show only dog and pony ICE raids that are for the most part ineffective. These tough on the employers of illegals sanctions laws are being passed at the states level, not the fed level. The American people have long realized that if any enforcement of immigration laws is to be done, it will have to come from the states. Mandatory e-verification by employers to check the legals status of employees is simple, quick and not a whole lot of trouble. It's common sense, really.
Universal mandatory e-verification renders an illegal's fake documents worthless. It's the only thing that will force scumbag employers of illegal to stop hiring illegals. That stops the jobs magnet that draws the illegals here in the first place. Most of those illegals already here who have suddenly lost their jobs will for the most part be forced to self deport back to where they came from.
