i read these websites and this is what i follow Finland and Russia.

in Vinterkreiiget 39-40 like you say, Russia attack on Finland, becuase Russia want the Karelian.Finland an d Russia come t o peace accord after Finland give RUssia Viipuri,Käkisalmi and Sortavala.

after Germany attack Russia 41 Finland was ally to Germany to take back this area includeing Karelia. Russia lead attack on Finland 44 on Karelia. Finland soon surrender and peace accord are made. Western alliansen attack German army in Lapland moving them to Norway. i didnt know there were german army in Norway in the war.

so,Finland and RUssia fight for land. Russia make navy base in Pirkkala near Helsingfors which they gave back to FInland after accord in 51.

is this what you follow here i n Finland and Russia? when Russia and Finland are in war, why do Gen. Mannerheim protect Leningrad from Germany? he have Finland militaire protect Leningard befojr Finland-Russia accord.
