As I stated before look at our evolution as we advance the only thing that changes is the effectiveness by which we wage war. For example in the last 100 years the human race has killed more people then in all of history put together.

Many break throughs are a result of military innovation and human competition with each other.

Diplomacy was tried and failed with Hitler leading to a catastrophic war a war which could have been stopped by a preemtive strike against Germany.
