I wont agree with getting violent over being offended BUT I have basic common sense and it tells me that I can poke people in some deeply hurtful areas and those type of offenses are more than likely to be met with violence towards me if I do so.

I have dealt with some pretty offensive stuff in the last 17 years and I have a pretty thick skin but there have been some times that I gave back because people crossed a line (and sure that line is subjective) and I do feel that they provoked me and have to be responsible for their provocation just like I take full responsibility for my reaction to that provocation.
