Marx's economic theory was and is still sound (by and large).

Now pure economic theory is one thing, implementation is another.

Stalin was not a communist if viewed from any angle (economic or philosophical).

Mao was always confused.

Comrades it ain't going to happen. Now it's just yet another ideology discarded to the bin.

Human greed and the influence of Nationalism and Capitalism are too strong.

In fact as strange as it may seem coming from me, globalisation is the last best chance we have of bringing some sort of equality to the world, provided workers (and Unions) can see the benefits and work together globally to control the multi nationals.
