Default I'm sorry you feel this way, PI.

But I assure you that Republicans were every bit as concerned about the potential harm that might be done by a Kerry presidency as you are about a Bush presidency.

I know that those on the left like to think that they are morally and intellectually superior to Republicans. However, I tend to think that anyone who posts here does so out of a sincere desire to improve this country, not only for themselves, but for all of us. We may differ in how that should be done, but I think it's foolish to doubt the intentions.

I think it's tremendously foolish, further, for Democrats to approach this loss in this particular way. It certainly does not lend credibility to your claims of moral superiority, and it does nothing to bridge the deep divide between us.

You would be better advised to take a page from the ill-fated Goldwater campaign. After they lost, rather than blaming for those who voted for the other candidate as being immoral or stupid, the Republicans licked their wounds in privacy, and sat down to figure out why they lost the election. They emerged as a stronger, more cohesive party. The Democrats, if they are to survive, must do the same.

The election truly was Kerry's to lose. MY VOTE was Kerry's to lose. Kerry didn't lose this election because those who voted for Bush are in some way inferior to Kerry voters (and clinging to that veil of fragile tissue isn't going to help you in future elections). Your candidate lost because he didn't run a good campaign, didn't connect with voters, didn't deliver a coherent message. Other than being united in hatred of Bush, the Democratic party isn't united. The Democratic party has serious problems at this point, and blaming those who didn't vote for Kerry isn't going to win future elections, though it might make you feel better at this short moment in time.

If you wish to blame ANYONE for the future you envision, blame your party. But, I think you're mistaken about where we're headed. And, if your candidate saw this vision so clearly, it's a darn shame he was never able to clearly articulate what he'd do to prevent it.
