Mussolini had a valid point, and it is hard in today's Modern America to ignore the direct connections between Corporate America and those that "govern" how those corporations operate as being anyhting but a huge conflict of interest.

I have been a proponent for a long time of a total ban on soft money donations by ALL special interest groups, be they corporations, unions, or PAC's. The ONLY entities that should be permitted to donate money to politicians are private citizens. Corporations/Unions are not people, do not have the right to vote, and therefore should be disallowed from giving money to or hosting fund-raisers for elected officials.

Until such time as politicians can wean themselves from the ever-filling trough of soft money the entire system will be replete with conflicts of interest, undue influence, and out and out bribery...

Think they'll do it?
