Default More on the whole "we knew about 9/11 but didnt care" thing

Quote:
PARIS - French secret services produced nine reports between September 2000 and August 2001 looking at the al-Qaida threat to the United States, and knew it planned to hijack an aircraft, the French newspaper Le Monde said on Monday.

The newspaper said it had obtained 328 pages of classified documents that showed foreign agents had infiltrated Osama bin Laden’s network and were carefully tracking its moves.

One document prepared in January 2001 was entitled, “Plan to hijack an aircraft by Islamic radicals,” and said the operation had been discussed in Kabul at the start of 2000 by al-Qaida, Taliban and Chechen militants.
Here come the swiftboaters to disqualify their claims cuz they're french.

So?? What do you think you have here? First of all, it's old news; I've read about this long ago. Secondly, it contains NOTHING about 9/11.

Thirdly, it just proves that when Condoleeza Rice said we had information about a possible traditional hijacking, but nothing specific and no details and certainly nothing about 9/11, she was telling the truth.

First of all, I didnt know it was old news. Sorry for posting out of date.

Secondly, it is not a coincidence that al qaeda was planning to hijack between september 2000 and august 2001 airplanes AND then they hijack airplanes (albeit in september 2001)

Thirdly, so while we were busy doing nothing about Osama or al qaeda, we put this on the 'things to completely disregard' pile. How did this information change airport security? What was done with the intel that al qaeda was planning SOMETHING?

If the Frenchies had spies in Al Qaida, why didn't THEY get Osama? Why didn't they just report to us where he was?

We know something is going to do down but we don't know exactly what, so we will do nothing at all. But actually the Bush administration did do something. They started planning regime change in Iraq.

Well, 9/11 has already happened so there's really not a lot of things we can do about it. the best thing to do now would be to learn from the mistakes we mad and bolster our defenses so that we can fend off further attacks from terrorist.

If by 'bolster our defense' you mean to spread our military thin and shovel money AWAY from homeland security, then we're on track.

Not only that...but WE knew that information days (and/or weeks) before 9/11. But it was still only vague threats: “Osama determined to strike in America” and somehow relating to “hijacking planes.”

But the big boys sat back and said: “Well what are we gonna do? Shut down all air traffic when we don’t have a date or any other specifics?”

Which then turns the issue into airport security and noticing the odd behaviors of these passengers. But being non-American looking, having one way tickets, no luggage, and acting strange before the purchases and boarding did not call for investigation. If they did inquire about them the ACLU would’ve been jumping down their throats...it would’ve saved 3,000 American lives...but safety does not overrule tolerance in that type of situation.

You're right that little could be done but a little done is infinitely larger than nothing at all. How about an increased state of readiness for our air national guard? How about giving the pilots a heads up and come up with a contingency plan, just in case? Not many ways to stop the hijacker once he's boarding...they attacked with box cutters which at the time wouldnt set off any alarms at the security checkpoint...

Default Well lookie here

Its a bunch of people talking about stuff they know nothing about.

Project Bojinka was picked up by Pakistani ISI and communicated to John O'Neil.

It was a plan, hatched by the Taliban/Quda/Hadeen, and it was a plan to use airplanes as missiles.

In response, we had a pentagon drill, the drill was protocol in case a plane hit the building.

The Frenchies tipped us off on the Hamburg Cell...

Several FBI agents WANTED to investigate the connection between Saudi nationals and flight-instructor programs.

Several are currently sueing the DOD over "spikeing" there investigations.

Of course...this is all "Old News" that neo-con supporters cant talk about, or want to talk about.
