Simply put, a UN resolution is as easy to ignore as a parking ticket issued by a university security guard. The pro-war hawks here often complain that the UN is feckless, but I never hear them mention the resolutions the US ignores or the many resolutions Israel ignores or the decisions of the world court that both countries ignore.

And the US and Israel would have to ignore more resolutions if the US didn't have veto power.
