What did woman do before Roe V. Wade? What did Roe V. Wade Bring to the table?
Contrary to popular opinion, if Roe v. Wade were over turned today, woman would not be dieing in the streets and back alleys. This is a complete myth and scare tactic used to rile people up. Abortion didn't bring anything new to the table, they only offered the murder of children as a form of birth control. Before Roe v Wade, doctors would fight for both the lives of the mother and the baby. Abortion never saved one single life! So next time you hear someone screaming from the rooftops how woman will suffer if Roe V. Wade were overturned, you can now know that this is a complete fabrication based on the imaginations of those who lust for murder. So, you may ask, how were the very rare medical difficulties dealt with before abortion was made legal? Here are some examples of how these situations were dealt with ethically and morally. ================== www.factsoflife.org/exceptions.html ""Life of the mother" as an exception for abortion sounds so reasonable that we don't carefully examine the reality behind the slogan. So let's be unreasonable and thoroughly examine the reasons for this "exception". The first deals with prior medical problems of the mother, such as cancer or heart disorders or other conditions that could be worsened by carrying the child. Doctors, afraid of a lawsuit, often pressure women into having an abortion. Yet, we all know stories about mothers who trusted God enough to carry the child and were blessed with a healthy baby. Medically and morally, doctors must deliver Equal Care to mother and child. The doctor must consider the needs of both patients in treatment decisions, doing his best to save both lives. There can be rare instances where only one life can be saved. For example, a severely cancerous womb must be removed early in the pregnancy. After surgery, the child dies a natural death because we don't yet know how to sustain the tiniest of our children outside the womb. THIS IS NOT AN ABORTION. No one was dismembered or burned to death. Abortion is the direct, deliberate destruction of the unborn child. In the Equal Care concept, no one ever seeks to kill a child. While no doctor can save every patient in his care every time, he saves as many lives as he can. And his decision-making is based on saving lives, not destroying them. It has always been legal, ethical and moral to surgically remove a fetus in order to prevent the death of the mother. Again, this is not abortion! Before Roe v. Wade, abortion was universally banned in most states. There was no "exceptions" language attached to the legislation. And doctors dealt with these most difficult situations in their practices. But once abortion was allowed, it became such an easy avenue for avoiding a potentially difficult medical situation, that now a woman has difficulty finding a physician who will help her and her baby survive. The next case is more common. It is called an ectopic pregnancy. The baby never reaches the womb, attaching instead to the wall of the Fallopian tube. That section of the tube must be removed or it will rupture, causing the deaths of both mother and child. There are no other treatment options. Again, the baby dies a natural death because we do not know how to save its life, too. The difference between these cases and abortion is the intent and actions of the doctor. In abortions, the intent is to destroy the child, and the actions directly carry out that intent. In Equal Care, the intent is to save as many lives as possible, even though we don't always succeed in saving them all. It's like a person who comes upon an accident in which two people are trapped within an overturned car. The smell of gas is everywhere. The person rescues the one closest to the door. If the rescuer shot the other, it would be murder. Rescuers never kill victims. If, however, the car caught fire before the rescuer could get back, and the other victim died, that would be a tragedy, but not murder. There would have been Equal Care. There was an honest attempt to save both lives. The alternative action is to deliberately destroy the child's life to save her mother's. In a "life of the mother" abortion, the child is forced to die for her mother. This automatically means that the child's life is lesser in value than the mother's. And once the child's life is considered less valuable than the mother's, the floodgates of abortion on demand have been opened. All lives are no longer equal before the law. Some pro-lifers argue that "life of the mother" exception must be allowed because the mother must have the right to save her life, to defend herself. That argument defines the baby as an attacker. She isn't. The baby is as much a victim of circumstances of the pregnancy as her mother, with an equal right to survival. Let us resolve, then, to take the exceptionally pro-life position of NO EXCEPTIONS!" |

Any mother that can be saved by an abortion can be saved by other medical means. The difference is that when using other means, the baby has a chance to live.
If, by the very rare chance that a mothers life is in jeopardy, then there are normal medical procedures to save the mothers life, and try to save her childs life. It's that simple. Abortion never added an option, it only made the options not care about the children while saving the mothers life. Just the facts http://www.justthefacts.org/clar.asp |

Of course, with abortion, there's the issue of whether or not a fetus is a sentient being. Is a fetus self-aware? Does a fetus have any higher-level cognitive functions? Does a fetus try to preserve it's own life?
Only after determining whether or not a fetus is sentient can we say if abortion is murder or not. |

The question, of course, is when does life begin. If its at birth then abortion is OK. But if its at conception then abortion is murder. We simply do not know. And if we do not know must we not assume conception? Forget religion. Until science can tell us when life begins we have to assume the earliest time. Are we engaged in genocide ?

The fact is that if someone wants to do something, whether it is against the law or not, they will do it. Laws are not physical barriers. I know many people, pretty much all of my friends, that have smoked marijuana before. But wait! That's against the law! Indeed, and they are still doing it. If a woman wants to have an abortion, she will have that abortion. It will be done unsafely, and she will either have her boyfriend do it, a "doctor" in a back alley, or herself. The instruments? A dirty coathanger, a wooden baseball bat, or the stairs. This can obviously cause injury to the woman, possibly even death. So, first off, for the good of the mother, I really believe that abortion must be legal.
When does a baby become a baby and not just a bunch of cells? I don't think that matters. I am sorry, but I truly don't. We will never know. Conservatives will say it is at conception. Liberals will say it is at birth. We will never know, and so it is always going to be a clash of opinions. We will never get anything done if we sit here and bicker about the issue of when a fetus becomes a baby. You just will never make someone agree with you- it is an opinion. Plus, America is the home of the free. Equality, and justice, for all! Right? Right. So if we were to ban abortions, then only one side gets what they want. Only one side's view is seen. The whole other side is forced to live like the opposition. Yet, if abortion is kept legal, both sides will make the choice, and both sides will be content on which choice they make. No one is forcing anyone to do anything. That is justice. That is equality. |

Okay, Abortion is a picky subject to most. Nevertheless what the people should look at is 1. Does the Fetus have a developing brain? 2. Does the Fetus have a Heart? 3. Does the Fetus make movement? All or none of these things can turn to murder and the opposite. If you give that baby a chance at life you could be dooming it to a crappy life, or saving it, and it could well be the next president! I personally say that Abortion is MURDER. THough thats just me.
