Default abortions to pay for educational programs

what if abortions were made more expensive, and part of the cost for the abortions went to programs to help prevent unwanted pregnancy? is there anything like that now?

Default ...

I think cigarette taxes are like that now, at least in some states. It hasn't worked to stop smoking by any means and the money doesn't always go where it's supposed to (go figure). I guess since cigarettes are addictive and government can't be trusted, that's to be expected. The problem with putting that on abortion is how to make a price so high that it competes with the costs of raising an unwanted child... It would work better to pay people for giving up children for adoption... but then you'd have people going into business and orphanages filled to the brim... and the system would go broke.
I'm a bit skeptical of whether the money would actually go to the right programs and if more money is what is necessary for the programs to be effective.

You'd have a situation where only wealthy women, and daughters of wealthy daddies, got abortions. Nearly all the younger females and all of the poor would be forced to carry to term.
