Technically this is more an alternative for abandonment and infanticide than for the kinds of abortions people are usually up in arms about... but I think it's a good idea.

A similar program was implemented about a year ago in NYC. Mothers can drop off unwanted babies at designated centers set up for the purpose. Oddly, in the year the program has been in effect the number of abandoned babies left around the city has increased.

This is a good idea. I'm taking a psychology of infant development class and I remember reading about the foundling wheel - thought it sounded like a good idea for modern use.
