The last time this country mixed politics with religion, people got burned at the stake.

I'm am not opposed to some sort of legislation on late-term abortions. In my eyes, third trimester abortions (which are the ones in which this Dialation and Extraction are used) are really pushing things. If a woman has carrried this child for 6 months already, I don't really see the point of not going to term and putting the child up for adoption unless there is something wrong with the baby or the mother. Abortion is not a pretty procedure in any case, whether it's evacuation or extraction, but that fact does not give us jurisdiction over another's body so that we can force her to have a child.

Speaking as a former Fetus...I must oppose all Abortions unless it absolutely means saving the life of the mother.

Mental Note: I must hug, kiss and thank mommy for not killing me.

I would agree, there has to be a point at which there is, presuming normal medical circumstances, a time in pregnancy beyond which abortion should not be a normal option.

My support is for abortions to be legal in the first trimester. Beyond that we have to recognise fetal development and acknowledge the "viability" of a child.

I am not sure of the circumstances which may prevail for later abortion and would value anyone elses advise.

For me abortion should ne longer be an option at the point in which there is a good chance that the fetus can survive w/o the mother. This point occurs at the beginning of the thrid trimester.
